There is no such thing as passive health. Read that again and let it sink in. That’s right. There is no such thing as passive health!!! Just like the business experts say there’s no such thing as passive income and that somewhere along the line the hard work has to be done first. The same can certainly be said about your health. In a world that is ever changing and throwing more challenges at the human race, navigating this takes hard work and conscious effort to obtain great physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.
Those that are fit, get up early, push through feeling uncomfortable and commit to regular exercise. Those with a great diet have done their research, determined what works for them and often spend time creating meal plans and shopping lists, not to mention hours in the kitchen. Even mental health requires much learning, understanding and dedicated effort with work life balance, sleep routine, stress regulation and psychological support if required.
There’s no doubt that the last few years have really put a magnifying glass on the concept of health versus disease. And Im seeing many more members of the community focusing on preventative health measures, in order to prevent illness. The mainstream medical system in Australia (and most likely across the world) is under so much pressure. And naturopathy, nutrition and lifestyle medicine have the ability to support not only the healthcare system but also the broader community in their pursuit of health and wellness.
But its not easy to determine what you need to do to have the best health outcomes. Natural medicine is not about waiting for some symptoms and taking a handful of vitamins or following the next fad diet. You are an individual with unique needs and addressing these can require hard work (and more often than not help from a professional). Everything in your day contributes to how your body is functioning, from how well you have slept, the time you get up, even what products you are using in the shower. As well as, if you have exercised, meditated or eaten breakfast. And that’s just before you walk out the door to start your day. Its overwhelming, but that’s where investing in a naturopathic practitioner can really help.
As they say “where your focus goes energy flows”. How long has it been since you’ve really looked at how healthy you are? What routines do you have in place that contribute to having a healthy body and mind? Is it time for you to consider enlisting the help of a practitioner to support and guide you? No matter how unachievable or overwhelming you feel your health goals might be, I am confident that my patient centred approach in constructing your individualised wellness plan will bring success. If you’d like further assistance, or know someone who might, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
